LDV to offer fully loaded large seven-seat D90 SUV
FRESH from launching its T60 dual cab ute, Chinese manufacturer LDV has revealed details for a seven-seat D90 SUV that will be launched from November 15.
LDV this week revealed it wants to take 10 per cent of all ute markets in which it competes starting from $28,990 drive-away, and this new SUV shapes as another value-packed proposition.
"The SUV sector may be hard fought, but we believe that the D90 will be a strong and competitive addition to the sector and will be another top seller for LDV in Australia.”
More than five metres long and nearly two metres wide, the LDV D90 will compete against the likes of Mazda's CX-9, the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.
Power comes from a turbocharged petrol engine that produces 165kW of power and 350Nm of torque.
Gearboxes are all six speed electronically controlled automatics.
The drivetrains will include two-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive systems. The latter will have high and low range, as well as terrain selection and an electronic rear differential lock.
Average fuel consumption is quaoted as a 10.2 litres/100km for the 2WD variant and 10.9L/100km, which will place it at the higher end of competition scale despite being armed with automatic engine stop/start.
Safety inclusions are blind spot warning, lane wander alert and traffic sign alerts, which automatically spots road signs such as speed limits and stop signs and brings them up in the instrument display.
LDV says the D90 will aslo have autonomous braking and front collision warning.
Australian-specific testing has been undertaken along with calibration for its automatic road sign recognition system.
"LDV clearly know that while the SUV sector is now the dominant vehicle type around the world, it is also highly competitive, so LDV have has drawn on the expertise, knowledge and technology of China's largest vehicle maker, its parent SAIC, to produce the D90,” said Dinesh Chinnappa, general manager of LDV Automotive Australia.
"This means that the LDV D90 not only has everything expected of an SUV, it also has a range of features that might not be expected, such as automatic road sign recognition; luxury features that might be expected of higher market cars, such as a driver's seat that is heated, cooled and offers a massage. This means that the D90 provides an even stronger value for money equation, given its ability, features and technology.”
Range-topping vaiants will have front seats which are heated, cooled and can massage the driver, two display screens, a 12-inch touch screen for entertainment and communications in the centre of the dashboard, and a multi-function 8-inch one for the instrument display.
D90s will have puddle lights under each door, ambient lighting inside, an automatic tailgate which operates with a wave of a foot under the bumper.
"While there are three different trim and equipment levels, there is nothing that could be called a basic version of the LDV D90,” Mr Chinnappa said.
"Each version is laden with equipment and features, which means that when it comes to the features offered by the D90, they range from the excellent to the exceptional, depending on the equipment level.”
