Last of trio jailed over $17,000 bar theft

THE third man involved in a plot to steal thousands from a Mackay bar has learned his fate.

All three needed money, so Aydon Seaton joined forces with Luke Seymour and Terence Knowles and they hatched a plan to take it from AM Bar.

The crime was carried out on June 12, 2018.

CCTV cameras captured Knowles approaching bar attendant Shania Wickham-O’Brien, who one of the men alleged was in on the plan, in the gaming room and handing her a note demanding cash.

He walked away with about $17,000.

When Ms Wickham-O’Brien was questioned earlier this week in Mackay District Court about her involvement. She claimed privilege on the grounds of self incrimination.

All three pleaded guilty to entering premise and stealing, with Seaton’s case being finalised on Thursday.

Knowles and Seymour had their cases finalised earlier this week.

Seaton also pleaded guilty to a raft of other charges including dangerous driving, driving while SPER suspended, possessing dangerous drugs and utensils, assault/obstructing police and evasion.

As a result he was jailed for three years with immediate parole and disqualified from driving for two years, two years, three months and one month.

It is up to the Department of Transport and Main Roads whether or not the times are added together.
