Last-gasp shot helps United to tight victory

A CLUTCH three-point shot from Melbourne United's Daniel Kickert with just nine seconds left against Sydney took yesterday's game to overtime, and from there the hosts went on to prevail 105-101 in a thriller.

Kickert (pictured) finished with 22 points and nine from 14 field goals as Jordan McRae top-scored with 30 points. Playing without star NBA recruit Josh Childress, Kings captain Ben Madgen stepped up with 22 points.

McRae, a second-round 58th overall draft pick at NBA team San Antonio this year (before being traded to Philadelphia), then starred in overtime with five points, nailing a crucial three-pointer with one minute and a half remaining.

In other round-11 results, Sydney beat Perth 78-74, New Zealand downed Townsville 96-84, Wollongong lost to Melbourne at home 103-98, Adelaide triumphed 90-86 over Cairns who yesterday notched an 83-59 win over New Zealand.
