Kybong rocking with its festival

KYBONG Rock Fest was off to a rolling start yesterday when many people turned out for the festival, event organiser Cecile Steenbergen said.

Many more will visit the three-day festival today where market stalls will feature all of the regular "stuff", as Cecile puts it, including rocks, minerals, fossils, jewellery and lapidary equipment and supplies.

But in addition to the shopping, the festival will promote dance groups in the area and there will be face-painting and educational activities for the kids.

There will be food aplenty with the canteen open for hot food and drinks, and food stalls, including hot, roasted macadamias.

To join in the fun, the festival will be open today at 8.30 and will run until 5pm and tomorrow from 8.30 until 3pm at Cooloola Rocks and Minerals on the Bruce Hwy at Kybong.
