Knocking kid off bike 'a giveaway'
A MAN who was in Gympie Magistrates Court charged with driving an unregistered car said police would never have found out if he hadn't hit a young person riding a pushbike.
Boris Ermler, 48, was taking his car to get repaired and had got up at 2am to avoid detection.
He drove his car around the corner on Investigator Avenue in Cooloola Cove and “hit a kid on a pushbike”.
Ermler told the court the bike didn't have lights and just shot out in front of him. The rider was uninjured, but Ermler was charged with driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.
Ermler, of Kanimula Avenue, Cooloola Cove, was fined $700, which was converted into 35 hours of community service.
P-plater Peacock had a blood alcohol concentration of .076 per cent and he was charged with driving while over the no-alcohol limit.
He said he had been having a few drinks with friends when he was talked into going to get a feed from McDonalds.
“I only got around the corner from where I live,” Peacock told the court about being pulled over by police and breathalysed on Davidson Road, Southside on September 12.
Peacock, 19, of Castlereagh Court, Southside, was fined $400 and had his licence disqualified for four months.
