Kleenmaid director to represent himself in fraud trial

A SUNSHINE Coast businessman accused of a multimillion dollar fraud is expecting to represent himself when a trial over the collapse of whitegoods company Kleenmaid begins.

Andrew Eric Young is accused of defrauding Westpac out of a $13 million loan when Kleenmaid was insolvent.

The case was mentioned in Brisbane Supreme Court on Friday where Mr Young said he would likely be representing himself.

"I have no ability and I have absolutely no intent of getting representation for my trial,” he said.

"I have no capacity to do so.”

A date has not yet been set for the trial.
