Karate club delivers success in Pomona

GYMPIE Karate Club has taken the recent Pomona titles by storm, continuing its reputation of success and sportsmanship.

A total of 13 members from Gympie were joined by four from Maryborough to round out a 117-strong field at the always hotly contested competition.

Gympie Karate Club spokesman sensei Noel Turner said Gympie turned in a strong performance.

Doing the golden city proud were Shane Harelle (second kata, first kumite), Cameron Harelle (third kata), Kirk Dixon (third kumite), Cloe le Roy (second kata, third kumite), Robbie le Roy (third kumite), Justin Schooth (second kata, third kumite in second division) and Sophie Schooth (third kata).

"All members that went to Pomona went well and should be proud of their achievement," Turner said.
