Jack Stokes Oval to remain as administrative hub
RUGBY LEAGUE: Gympie rugby league officials have announced they will continue to use Jack Stokes Oval as their administrative hub, despite shifting the majority of junior league teams to Albert Park.
The Monkland-based headquarters will also continue to host a number of other Gympie sporting bodies, including darts.
Both schoolboy rugby union and schoolboy rugby league will continue to be played at the Smith St address while the ground will continue to provide a training base for both the Devils senior teams as well as the majority of junior league teams.
Gympie junior rugby league president Ben Dore said while the decision for the club to move the majority of their fixtures to Albert Park was a logistical one, Jack Stokes Oval would still play an important role in the club's future.
"From our perspective the clubhouse at Jack Stokes is still utilised.
"We hold the majority of our meetings there.
"It (the Jack Stokes Oval facility) also plays an important part in several other sporting organisations in Gympie.
"On top of that our international rules teams (under-11 to U14) will play there on a Saturday,” Dore said.
In other local rugby league news the Gympie Devils reserve grade side will be looking for their second win of the year when they take on Maroochydore at Noosa on Saturday.
The Devils have struggled through the first quarter of the season as they adjust to life without an A-grade side to bolster numbers.
