Jack goes West to present Aussie of the Month awards

FORMER Brisbane Broncos NRL player Jack Reed told Gympie West students a good work ethic was important when he presented the school's May Aussie of the Month awards.

Jack, who played 128 games with the Broncos and is now the Broncos development officer for the Sunshine Coast, presented the awards on parade on Wednesday - the day of the first State of Origin game of the year.

Jack spoke to the students about being active, resilient and staying positive.

Aussies of the Month for May are:

PREP: Kaelee Faint - Kaelee is a kind and caring member of the class. She always uses beautiful manners and shows respect to everyone she meets. Kaelee's self-confidence continues to develop as the year progresses. Kaelee always tries her best with all activities. Kaelee can be congratulated on the fantastic progress she has already made at Prep. Great work Kaelee.

Year 1: Hudson Prisk - Hudson is an enthusiastic and hardworking student who sets a fine example to his peers. He models expected Gympie West behaviour and standards with pride, and makes valuable contributions to all learning.

Year 2: Joseph Wickham - Joseph is a keen and cheerful classmate that is always respectful to his peers and all staff. Joseph demonstrates a commendable hard working and positive attitude to all school activities and is a role model to his peers. Keep smiling Joseph.

Year 3: Georgie Dawson --Georgie is a conscientious student who is always willing to put 100% into everything that she does. She independently follows all of the school rules and displays Positive Behaviours for Being a Learner, Being Safe and Being Respectful to the highest standard. Georgie gives her best in every situation and positively contributes to the school. She helps encourage others and is a role model to her peers. Gympie West State School is very lucky to have a student like Georgie Dawson!

Year 3: Anthony Williams - Anthony is a caring and thoughtful member of the class. He has displayed the qualities of a good friend and has been keen to support others with the classroom routines. Well done.

Year 4: Ryley Turner - Ryley is a dedicated, friendly student who continually strives to do his very best. He always contributes ideas and answers during class discussions and is a valuable role model for his peers. Ryley participates in the instrumental music program with enthusiasm, often supporting others to remember their lesson times. He has made a great start to 2017.

Year 5: Olivia Lesslie - Olivia is a wonderful role model for all other students at Gympie West. She is responsible, reliable and a conscientious student. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Olivia and she helps others willingly. She is a lovely young lady and truly deserving of this award. Congratulations Olivia.

Year 6: Duey Barry - Duey has shown tremendous growth this year with the way he treats and respects others. He has become a fine leader who supports and encourages his peers, takes turns and includes everyone in games. In class he is an attentive student who completes all set tasks. Duey involves himself in all activities enthusiastically and always wears the school uniform with pride.
