It’s showtime for girls
IT is official, involvement in a professional competition like Miss Showgirl Gympie is back in style and Stirling Homes is excited to be involved this year on a whole new level.
Stirling Homes joint owner Karen Bazzan has taken on the role of Miss Showgirl co-ordinator to assist, mentor and encourage the girls with their quest and to raise the profile of the program.
She said competitions like Miss Showgirl were recognised as a good, old fashioned way to get ahead in a new fashioned, competitive, modern world.
"Today more than ever it is important for young people to build a portfolio of skills and experience outside of traditional education in order to give themselves the edge," she said.
Karen has gathered a select group of mentors, including her, to support the girls and has organised Donna Meredith from Live It Up Coaching.
Donna works with some of Australia's leading entrepreneurs, business owners and successful individuals and will run a special evening seminar for the girls, their committee and chosen support person.
Seminars like this regularly have a waiting list to attend and with Donna's speaking fees starting at $2,500, this year's showgirl entrants will be among a privileged few.
Originally a Gympie girl, Donna visits monthly to work with top businesses in the region and is keen to support her community by donating her time to this year's event.
"I really wanted to expose these young women to other incredible women and provide entrants with tools I wish I had at their age," Donna said.
"Miss Showgirl Gympie is just the start. Entrants have the opportunity to compete in the regional showgirl judging which this year is being held in Gympie."
Karen is a successful, award winning business woman in her own right and is the brains behind Stirling Homes QLD marketing and sales, which has seen the company more than double in size and win Master Builders Sunshine Coast Display Home of the year all in the past 18 months.
She has long held a personal passion for supporting the development of young women in the Gympie region.
"Stirling Homes QLD is proud to be involved as sponsors of this years event," she said.
