ISAIAH Firebrace has plenty to celebrate tonight after taking out The X Factor grand final.

The viewing public voted the Moama teen the show's winner, landing him a Sony Music recording contract, on his 17th birthday.

Persistence has paid off for Isaiah, who auditioned for the show last year but failed to make it past the boot camp round after forgetting his lyrics.

"This is my dream and I can't believe it came true on my birthday," he said.

"After appearing on the show last year and forgetting my lyrics, I was too scared to even audition again. Luckily I had really supportive people around me who encouraged me to forget about the year before and just have another go and I am so glad I did."

He nearly gave in to his nerves again in his judges audition this year, but was given a second chance by the judges including his eventual mentor Adam Lambert.

"The experience I've had watching you from the beginning of this competition to where we are now, you're so grounded and so poised for this as a career," Lambert said.

"Each week you elevate yourself and get to the next level of something that is impressive and inspiring to me."

Isaiah has some other big-name supporters including Jessica Mauboy, with whom he performed a duet last week.

Isaiah's winner's single, It's Gotta Be You, is out now and was written by Aussie songwriting duo DNA Songs (Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci), who also penned Dami Im's Eurovision song Sound of Silence.

He will release his self-titled debut album on December 9, featuring re-recorded studio tracks of some of his X Factor performances including, Lay It All On Me, A Change Is Gonna Come and FourFiveSeconds as well as his audition song Hello.

"I have had so much incredible support from the public all around Australia and it has made me feel so overwhelmed when people have told me that they have driven from Adelaide and other long distances to see me at the live shows," he said.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would end up here so to know that I am going to be with Sony is very overwhelming."

Runner-up Davey Woder made X Factor history by performing his own original song Coming Home as his potential winner's single.

His mentor Guy Sebastian sees a future for the Logan tyre fitter as a singer/songwriter.

"He's just a really good dude," Sebastian said.

"He really loves his family... and he is an incredible songwriter.

"I can't wait for people to hear the songs I've heard... and I know you have a whole bag of songs."
