IS says it bombed Coptic church
ISLAMIC State has vowed "to continue war against apostates” as it claimed responsibility for the weekend suicide bombing of a Cairo church that killed 25 people. It is a new escalation of violence in Egypt against civilians and particularly Christians. The IS statement said the bomber had killed and injured 80 people. It was one of the deadliest attacks in recent memory to target Egypt's Coptic minority, who are about 10% of the population. They were largely supportive of the military overthrow of a freely elected Islamist president in 2013.
