Flood deaths inquest starts

THE Coronial Inquest into the 25 deaths arising from the flood events of January 10 will commence in Brisbane today.

Queensland State Coroner Michael Barnes will preside over the inquiry.

Based on evidence provided by the Queensland Police Service, Mr Barnes is expected to conclude that all deaths were due to drowning and no foul play was involved.

However, the inquest will look further into the circumstances surrounding the death of Jesse Wickman who drowned while in the process of being resuced.

The inquest is expected to last three days.
