Injured man airlifted to Brisbane

A MAN in his 70s has been seriously injured in a farming accident on a property about 60km north west of Gympie yesterday morning.

It is believed the man nearly lost his leg when a blade came off a brush cutter he was using at Munna Creek about 10am.

Emergency services on the scene said he was using a hand held brush cutter to cut and trim trees, when the blade struck him, slicing and breaking his lower left leg.

Paramedics called the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter team to assist in treating the man.

The injured man was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where a specialist medical team was waiting.
