Immunise – it’s the right thing to do

PREGNANT West Australian women will be offered free whooping cough vaccinations in the wake of the death of four-week-old Riley Hughes.

Background: Babies' lives put at risk by vaccination apathy

It must be terrifying to be the parent of a newborn knowing this deadly disease has resurfaced as a very real threat - and all because of the strident, misinformed anti-vaccination lobby that would have us believe the danger of immunising our babies is greater than the threat posed by the actual diseases.

Background: Half Gympie students don't bother with school based vaccines

If these people had lived a century ago and been forced to watch children regularly die from the horrors of polio and diptheria (and whooping cough) would their opinions be the same?

I very much doubt it.

My four children are all fully immunised, as am I.

It's the right thing to do. For our children and our community.
