Imbil table tennis action heats up

With its small compact court and demand for focus over strength, table tennis is called the sport for all ages.

Those looking for a new sports challenge or just some social fun can get into the sport on Tuesday nights in Imbil.

Table tennis at Imbil follows the creation of the Amamoor group of Mary Valley Table Tennis.

So far, things are looking positive for the sport in the area and it attracted a good crowd to the inaugural evening of play on July 17.

Interested players and spectators can come along to the Imbil Public Hall on Tuesdays from 7-9pm.

Four tables are available for players to use, and bats and balls supplied by the club, which means all players need to bring is a sharp eye.

There is a small charge for playing ($1 for kids and $2 adults) and insurance is covered as an associate member of the Mary Valley Show Society (families can join for $12 for 12 months).

Spokesman Len Summers said there was no need to be a "champion" at the sport.

He said the group's aim was to enjoy a social night, but he added there was an opportunity to improve your fitness in what can be a fast-paced and exciting sport.

Children over 10 years are welcome to join the play, but need to be accompanied by an adult.
