I'd always hoped he'd love again: Golinski mother-in-law
MATT Golinski's former mother-in-law has spoken of her joy at seeing photos of his new baby with his fiance Erin Yarwood.
Susan MacCracken, the mother of the late Rachael Golinski, said she was delighted the celebrity chef had found happiness once more and started a new family.
"I'm just so happy for him for making it happen," Mrs MacCracken said.
"Life has to move on and he's made a humongous effort to do that.
"I really wanted that for him."
Being a "practical" woman, Mrs MacCracken said she'd always hoped Mr Golinski would find love again after the house fire that tragically claimed the life of his wife and three daughters, Sage, Willow and Starlia, on Boxing Day, 2011.
"I was his mum-in-law for 20 years," she said.
"I'm a factual person - I've lived through 18 years of war in the UK, in Northern Ireland.
"I know death is a part of life and we have to move on.
"I thought, well, he's young enough to meet someone new and have children again. That was my thinking for him."
Mrs MacCracken said "Matty" was an amazing father to his late daughters and will no doubt provide the same love and care to his newborn Aluna.
"He was a lovely dad," Mrs MacCracken said.
"He was a very hard worker, the girls (his daughters) all wanted a part of him. He always had time for them no matter how busy or tired he was.
"I respected that of him."
While she misses her daughter and granddaughters every day, Mrs MacCracken said Mr Golinski's friends helped her through her grief.
"I miss the children, the girls and my daughter very, very much - daily," she said.
"He's got a wide circle of friends and a lot of them have been very supportive with me."
Mrs MacCracken is looking forward to meeting Ms Yarwood and Aluna.
"I haven't met Erin properly yet, I'm looking forward to meeting her. I am very happy about both of them, and Erin's bound to be a lovely girl."
