Gympie to hear latest info on ice at forum tomorrow
GYMPIE will hear the latest information from the Federal Government's war on methamphetamine at a special community forum tomorrow afternoon.
Police, community workers, emergency and youth workers will join ordinary members of the public concerned about the drug, particularly in its most contemporary form, ice.
The Ice in Gympie workshop will be held at Gympie Civic Centre from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Gympie emergency doctor Stephen Priestley is the public face of Prime Minister Tony Abbott's campaign against the drug, which he has called "the most dangerous illegal drug we have ever seen".
Dr Priestley will tell the forum of his experiences of victims of the drug in his role as director of emergency medicine for Gympie's Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.
Other speakers will include Gympie's police Central Region detective acting superintendent Bruce McNab will also speak at the forum, which is a response to Mr Abbott's campaign.
