Hurrell signs new deal with Titans
TITANS centre Konrad Hurrell has committed to another two years with the club and he says he feels right at home on the Gold Coast.
The 25-year-old, who has resurrected his career under coach Neil Henry, confirmed his loyalty to the Titans on Thursday morning ahead of their Round 1 clash with the Roosters.
He'll now stay on with the Titans until the end of 2019.
Hurrell joined the Titans midway through last season after falling out of favour at the Warriors and was a revelation in their race to the finals.
Now, as he prepares to begin his first full season in the Gold Coast colours, Hurrell has confirmed he will stay a part of Henry's team.
"I feel like I'm at home already,” he said of his nine months in Australia.
"I like it here and I'm enjoying it here.
"The staff, sponsors and players have been looking after me. I'm settling in pretty good.”
The Titans revealed the extension for Hurrell on Thursday morning after his manager Amon Ta'akimoeaka told The Courier-Mail last month that he was working on keeping the monster back on the Gold Coast.
Titans CEO Graham Annesley said the Tongan sensation is "one of the great characters of the game” and draws people through the gates.
With 81 NRL games under his belt, Hurrell is determined to have a solid 2017 and show the Titans why he is worth investing in.
He has had a disrupted pre-season after suffering a knee injury in December but is looking fit and has been named to take on the Roosters this Saturday at Cbus Super Stadium.
For Hurrell, there is only one thing now that will make his move to the Gold Coast complete - his dog Naala.
The pooch is still in New Zealand with family members after the former Warrior admitted he was reluctant to move her until his future was secure beyond this season.
But now that he has managed to lock in that extension with the Titans, he will look at the right processes to bring Naala over to Queensland.
"If I get a bit longer here, she's definitely coming,” Hurrell said of his beloved pet earlier this week.
"I'll feel complete. I need my baby here.”
