67yo man dies in Pomona crash

A 67-YEAR-OLD Maroochydore man has died in a high speed smash at Pomona this morning.

The Sunshine Coast man was killed after his north-bound green Mazda hatch collided with a south-bound rented silver Toyota Camry on the Bruce Highway about 9.40am.

Two German tourists in the silver sedan were treated at the scene this morning but did not require transportation to hospital.

A B-double prime mover was not involved in the collision despite early reports, but the truck driver was a witness to the crash.

The Maroochydore man was the only occupant in the north-bound vehicle.

The Bruce Highway has been re-opened after a two hour closure where Main Roads had to clear 150 metres of debris.

Early reports were that the Maroochydore man had been thrown from his vehicle in the high-speed crash.
