How Logies producers plan to avoid Oscars-style blunder

IT WAS the biggest blunder in awards show history but the Logies producers are adamant they won't suffer an Oscars-style stuff-up.

Millions of people around the world clutched their pearls when Warren Beatty mistakenly announced the Best Picture Oscar winner was La La Land instead of Moonlight at this year's Academy Awards.

But Channel Nine is confident they won't make the same mistake.

"We have a number of processes in place to ensure we protect the integrity of the TV Week Logie Awards,” a Nine spokesman told news.com.au.

"Three senior producers check every award to ensure we have the right winners in the correct envelopes. The sealed envelopes are checked again three times on the night of the awards to ensure the presenters have the right envelope before they step on stage.”

With the Logies just a few days away, Waleed Aly is the firm favourite to take home the Gold Logie for the second year in a row.

Sportsbet has Samuel Johnson as the second favourite followed by Jessica Marais, Grant Denyer, Peter Helliar and Rodger Corser.

More than 1000 guests will walk the 124 metre red carpet this Sunday before being seated inside the Crown palladium Ballroom.

The 2017 TV Week Logie Awards will be broadcast live on Channel Nine from 7pm on Sunday, April 23.
