Hot spring brings changes
SERIOUSLY hot conditions put an end to winter around the Gympie Region yesterday.
New beginnings were also symbolised by one of the big events of the Australian spring season, the Federal Election.
But while winners are supposed to be grinners, even the winners were complaining about this election, particularly about the Senate.
Apparently it contains far too many ordinary, honest people who seem intent on pursuing issues and policies they had honestly and clearly put before the electorate.
This is a bad thing, the major parties complain, backed by most "experts", because it makes it harder to make new laws.
They are even joined by the Greens, who say the rules should be changed to prevent unrepresentative minorities having the balance of power.
How quickly they forget where they came from.
