Hot rod heaven at Dyno Comp
THE first Autobarn Dyno Comp and Car Show held in Gympie on Saturday proved to be a huge hit with about 600 people walking through the Gympie AFL gate at Six Mile to check out the beasts on show.
Gympie man Stuart took the Dyno win from 35 competitors with his Datsun 200 turbocharged SR20 motor.
About 50 cars were displayed in the show, from slick new rides to old-style hot rods.
Autobarn manager Paul Holter said it was a good day with people from as far away as Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast undertaking the journey to compete in the Dyno Comp as well as play spectator.
Madils and Pacific Hyundai had displays at the event, along with the local go kart, rock climbing and four-wheel-drive clubs.
There are now plans to hold another event next year, which Mr Holter promises will be bigger and better.
