Kilkivan Great Horse Ride cancelled

THE 2011 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride due to be held on September 17 has been cancelled due to the possible risk of the Hendra virus.

“It is with much regret that we have had to cancel the horse ride after having to postpone the event in April due to flooding,” ride secretary Lauren Williams said.

“However, the committee has decided to reduce the possible risk of spreading the Hendra virus to not only the riders and their horses but property owners and the general public.

“The Horse Ride committee would like to thank the public for their support and hope to see everyone at the 2012 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride on March 31.”
