Home and Away's Ash leaves Rainbow Beach star-struck
HOME and Away fan Fiona Border "nearly dropped dead" when she realised a star from her favourite show was using the toilet at her Rainbow Beach business.
The Rainbow Cooloola Wholesalers owner's dreams came true when George Mason, who plays Martin "Ash" Ashford in the iconic Australian drama dropped in with friends after a 5-day holiday at Fraser Island.
The group had stopped for lunch at the Karoonda Road Café van at the front of the property.
She first saw him as he was walking through the business to use the toilet, but she didn't recognise him at first.
"He smiled, and I waved and thought, 'I know you from somewhere'," she said.
Another worker in the shop first connected the dots.
"I nearly dropped dead," Ms Border said.
She said Mason was more than happy to chat and pose for a photo.
He even granted her request for a hug and a kiss.
"I didn't even want to ever have another shower," Ms Border said.
"He was gorgeous, absolutely lovely."
Now 50 years old, Ms Border said she has been a Home and Away fan since the show first aired in 1988.
"It's my half-hour of peace," she said.
"Everyone knows not to annoy me and not to ring me."
