Hockey start hits the mark

Gympie Hockey Publicity Officer Desli Adams reports on a blazing start to the new season at the weekend.

ALTHOUGH showers dampened the day, 2010 Junior Hockey enjoyed a successful start to its season at Ramsay Park on Saturday.

As well as the juniors, both senior women’s and men’s competitions have been running successfully for a couple of weeks, with a renewed vigour for the game in Gympie pleasing the club.

With player numbers steadily increasing each year, the Gympie Hockey Committee is looking forward to another exciting year ahead and continuing to build on all the hard work of previous years.

Fundraising towards a new state-of-the-art field continues to be a focus this year, together with increasing the club’s volunteer base to help achieve this goal. The mantra being used is “many hands make light work”.

Players are urged to check the The Gympie Times each Thursday for the draw for their individual games or to look up the hockey website for an ongoing update of hockey information.
