GYMPIE Hockey’s Under 13 Girls representative team travels to Atherton later this month to contest the state championships and have been given a financial boost by G James Glass and Aluminium.
Manager of the Gympie branch of the company, Troy Sutton, attended the team’s training session Wednesday afternoon to announce the sponsorship to the players.
Gympie Hockey publicity officer Desli Adams said the sponsorship of the team came at a time when it was needed most.
“In the current economic climate, it is very hard for parents to afford to send their children to championships so far away,” she said.
“This much-needed sponsorship to help the team with fundraising has been very much appreciated.”
The Under 13 representative side continues to train hard and will now include sessions on Sunday to sharpen their skills even more.
The team flies out to Atherton on Sunday, June 27 with all the ambition needed for success at an elite level.
