Hivesville man fronts court

A HIVESVILLE man appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court on Monday charged with five offences.

The court heard Blair Anthony Suffolk, 39, of Stone Lands Rd, came to the attention of police about 5.15pm on March 18, 2011, along Brisbane Rd and as a result he was charged with possession of a knife, possession of a pipe, driving under the influence of cannabis, and driving an unregistered and uninsured bike.

After failing to attend Gympie Police Station by March 25, he was further charged with failing to give identifying particulars.

Defending himself, Suffolk said he "wasn't travelling too well" on the day but had since given up drugs and "felt better".

He was fined $200 for the unregistered and uninsured bike.

He was placed on a good- behaviour bond for six months with a recognisance of $400 on the other three charges.

He was disqualified from driving for one month and fined $200 for driving under the influence of cannabis.
