Heroin, guns, bomb: Two Coast men charged in police raid

EXPLOSIVES, guns and heroin was among a huge haul of illegal contraband the Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad seized in a police raid of a Coast home yesterday.

During a search warrant of a Palmwoods property on Toby Crt, officers found several guns, ammunition, explosives, heroin, ice and cannabis.

Discovery of the explosive device had police officers on standby as specialists came in to investigate about 1.30pm.

 

At 3pm, officers of the Explosives Ordinance Response Team arrived at the property to detonate the device.

A 34-year-old Palmwoods man was charged with five counts of possession of a dangerous drug, six counts of unlawful possession of weapons and one count each of possession of explosives, possession of tainted property and possession of tainted property.

He is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

A 35-year-old Coolum Beach man was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of weapons and one count each of unlawful deposition of explosives and possession of a utensil.

He will appear in court on July 30.
