Give blood for Mother's Day

FLOWERS wilt and books eventually gather dust…for a Mothers’ Day gift with true meaning, why not give blood?

There are mothers and children in Australia today who are alive because of blood donors.

The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is supporting Mummy’s Wish, a charity that helps Mothers with cancer, to get Gympie involved in something special – they want to ‘paint the town red’.

This exciting initiative aims to highlight the strong association between donating blood and helping mothers with cancer. Unbeknown to many, more than 30 per cent of all blood donations are used to treat cancer patients.

There are many mothers who are here to care for their children, because their own lives were saved by blood donations.

Belinda Haynes of the blood service said that the campaign aims to raise awareness of both Mummy’s Wish and how blood donations help those with cancer.
