Help arrives in Widgee

LOCALS got together on Thursday morning for their monthly Community Cuppa, sharing morning tea, compliments of the Widgee Complex.

Guests yesterday were James McManis and James Robertson from the Department of Communities, Community Recovery Team.

Based in Gympie, they're here to help flood-affected people and families as far out as Kilkivan.

Anyone suffering hardships or flood affected and needing financial assistance, can contact the Department on 1800 173 349.

Their staff is on hand to direct callers who are in need of assistance, be it with claims for the loss of foodstuffs, damaged furnishings, advice or counselling.

The Community Recovery Team of six are operating out of the Office of Child Safety, located at 26 Duke St, Gympie and can be contacted during business hours on 5482 4177. The recovery team will be in Gympie for the next few weeks and are available seven days a week.
