Heather Mills backs dingo campaign

JUMPING on the ‘save our Fraser Island dingoes’ bandwagon is perhaps the best-known spouse of any of the legendary Beatles.

Heather Mills, the headlining ex of Sir Paul McCartney, says our State Government must act immediately to stop the dingoes starving.

“Australia is famous the world over for its unique and beautiful native animals,” writes Mills in a letter to campaigner Jaylene Musgrave.

“When I saw photos and read about what is happening to Fraser Island’s dingoes I felt I had to join those in speaking out against this travesty.

“With the experts being highly critical of the Queensland Government’s management of the dingoes, saying it had a responsibility to the island’s World Heritage listing to preserve the animal; it is beyond comprehension why the government is not stopping what they are doing immediately.

“The island’s dingo population is being denied access to food sources they had relied on and are starving and are paying an all-too-high and painful price. Now is the time for anyone who feels the same as me to speak out so that we can help these poor animals.”

She said if the lions in Africa were treated the way we treat dingoes on Fraser Island, “there would be an international outcry”. She added that our “politicians and others just don’t want to do anything about it”.
