Heat take on All Blacks at Bundy

GYMPIE’S premier hockey team the Cooloola Heat will travel to Bundaberg today for a clash with All Blacks.

Heat coach Ben Fitzpatrick has had to make a few changes to the team because of the absence of full back Dave Dixon.

The Heat’s usual centre half Dom Stephens is moving to the back of the field while Codey Warhurst will control the centre.

Dave Innis makes a move to left inside to cover for Warhurst. Dixon’s absence will make way for Lachlan Mount to make his return to the Heat after a foot injury.

Fitzpatrick said the team had worked hard on their defensive and attacking corners during training after a 5-0 loss to Brothers in their last game.

“We didn’t play to bad in the last game, but our corners let us down in attack and defence,” Fitzpatrick said.

“We worked on them a lot during training, so I am looking for a big improvement this weekend,” he said.

Fitzpatrick said the Heat would be leaving the Gympie Hockey Centre in convoy at 1.30pm.
