Heat lose to Granville 1-0

A GOAL in the first five minutes of play sealed the Heat’s fate on Saturday night when the wet down to Granville 1-0.

Cooloola Heat hockey coach Ben Fitzpatrick said it was a great effort by his players after the goal was scored.

“The goal was awesome- awesome or flukey,” Fitzpatrick said.

He said the ball was hit through the air into the goal circle and the Granville striker plucked it out of the air and rocketed the ball past Heat keeper Clancy Adams.

“Both teams played pretty well and had their chances,” Fitzpatrick said.

“Our boys lacked confidence, when they should have been taking players on in attack they passed,” he said.

He singled out Codey Warhurst and Adams as the Heats best.

“Things are starting to come together – we are heading in the right direction,” he said. The Heat play Roos in Maryborough this weekend.
