Heat look to scorch Brothers

WITH last week’s 4-nil win boosting their confidence,Gympie’s Heat are looking to take their second hockey win at home this week.

The Heat take on Maryborough’s Brothers in what should be a “tough” game, coach Peter Chatman said.

Last time the teams battled, Brothers cooled the heat with a 4-3 win.

“We had a fairly weakened side then. Now we have a stronger unit and will hopefully come away with a win,” he said.

Chatman said if the team played to their potential there was no reason they could not come away with another win. Captain Ben Fitzpatrick looks set to return after a good training session on Tuesday night.

He was out with the flu last week and is healthy enough to play again.

“I think the boys have maintained their willingness to train hard. During a one-and-a-half hour session on Tuesday they all worked hard.

“They’re not thinking about anything except continuing to perform well.”

The Heat is currently sitting second on the Maryborough Premiership ladder and are looking good to make it into the finals.

Chatman hopes to get a strong crowd tomorrow night to support the boys.

Heat v Brothers 6pm Saturday at Ramsey Park.
