Heat is back on today

THE Cooloola Heat men’s hockey side will play their first game of the Wide Bay Premier League against Hervey Bay at Ramsey Park today.

Heats coach Ben Fitzpatrick said the team was ready to go for the 2010 season.

“We are looking good,” Fitzpatrick said.

“We have a young, fit, quick side that should play a very entertaining style of hockey,” he said.

The coach has appointed striker Dean Walker and midfielder Dom Stephens as co-captains for the season, saying the pair had showed leadership and set a good example for the rest of the players during pre-season training.

“We have had one of our best pre-seasons and the boys are keen and can’t wait to play a real game instead of just training.”

Fitzpatrick is hoping his new forward setup will see the Heat score plenty of goals this season and is keen to see the form of new young keeper Clancy Adams.

Ramsey Park is on the Southside and Fitzpatrick is hoping all supporters will dress in maroon.

Team list: Clancy Adams, Joey Collins, Dave Dixon, Jordon Warhurst, Dom Stephens, Dave Innis, Mitchell Keuther, Codey Warhurst, Dean Walker, Nathan Stephens, Daniel Naismith, Drew Wenzel, Matt Hughes and Ned Edgar.
