'He was beating her up': Horrifying roadside attack

A COAST man was shaking as he recalled how a man brutally bashed a woman on Dalton Dr, Maroochydore this afternoon.

About 3.45pm, Joshua Allgrove was making the drive from Mooloolaba to Bunnings to pick up some gear for work, but slammed down hard on the brakes when he saw the alleged assault.

Mr Allgrove said a large man in his mid-30s, wearing only board shorts, pulled over the white Nissan Patrol he was driving, got out of the car and viciously assaulted the passenger woman.

He said the man looked almost bald and was easily six foot tall.

"He was beating her up," Mr Allgrove told the Daily at the scene.

"He got out on the car and she stayed in the car.

"He was punching her, I was yelling at him hoping he would just stop.

"I pulled over to try and get someone else to come over and stop him."

But the attack was swift, Mr Allgrove said, and in about 30 seconds the man got back in the car and drove up Dalton Dr, towards the roundabout and onto Maud St.

He reported the incident to the police.
