GYMPIE residents need to get involved and have their say on the future of the region.

Regional Councillor Jan Watt said right now people could have their say on local, state and federal planning that impacted on the Gympie region.

The Wide Bay Burnett regional plan, of which Gympie was a part at a state level, is open for comment until December 24. See www.dip.qld.gov.au/widebayburnett The impacts of these planning initiatives range from where certain sports can be located to land use policy.

Gympie council’s own community plan is also open for contributions from residents.

Cr Watt said the community plan wasn’t a wish list for the region, but a vision of where people saw Gympie in the next 20 years, and how that vision could be achieved.

The Federal Government’s Regional Development Australia roadmap for Wide Bay is also being developed.
