Happy Christmas church services - where and when
IF YOU are experiencing a sad, isolated or financially stressed Christmas, or if you are just plain worn out by the Christmas rush, Gympie Community Church senior pastor Dean Comerford says Jesus knows how you feel.
"Can I suggest the first Christmas was not too dissimilar to what you may be experiencing?” he said.
"Jesus was born in the midst of poverty and muck.
"His family was away from home and not long after, had to flee as refugees.
"Then there was the gossip Mary and Joseph would have endured - pregnant with the Son of God - likely story!
"The Nativity scene always looks serene on a Christmas card, but it denies the reality of that first Christmas - and it denies the reality of Jesus.
"He understands your Christmas; the busyness, the financial drain and the loneliness.
"Yet despite this, He came to bring peace, to bring something worth more than money and to connect you to the greatest friendship you'll ever have - a friendship with God.
"I love Christmas. I enjoy telling the Christmas story, singing the carols, going to Christmas parties and eating all that Christmas food.
"But if Christmas is not like that for you this year, Jesus understands.”
