Hall wows at Rainbow

IT MAY have taken three decades for Rainbow Beach to get its own hall but the final result was worth the wait.

"Wow" was how Sandy Brosnan described the new community centre at its opening yesterday.

"I think it's the most amazing thing to happen to Rainbow Beach for a long time," she said. Ms Brosnan is the hall's new president.

In her speech she explained the process to get the community centre, which included a new library, started in the early 80s. "I'm just so proud to have it finally up and running," she said.

The $2million dollar project was promised by Gympie Region Mayor Ron Dyne.

"He just scraped in," Ms Brosnan said. "He promised he'd have it done in his first term and I have never lacked confidence he would do it."

Cr Dyne said the community had campaigned hard for the project and was rewarded with a state-of-the-art facility.
