A 7cm hailstone lands south of Childers in Sunday storms
AN EGG-shaped hailstone 7cm long was the biggest reported to the Bureau of Meteorology during the hailstorms in the Wide Bay region on Sunday afternoon.
BoM meteorologist Matt Bass said the big hailstone was photographed by Andrew Bufalino about 10km south of Childers but most of the hailstones reported were about 2cm in diameter.
He said hail fell in Maryborough, Burrum Heads, between Howard and Childers and Tin Can Bay.
"There was a number of different cells throughout the afternoon through the Wide Bay," Mr Bass said.
The Department of Community Safety said the SES had not received any reports of damage from the hailstorms.
