Gympie Women in Business Excellence Awards are on tonight

THE Annual Gympie Women in Business Excellence Awards are on tonight, and the nominations are in.

With a line-up of talented local business women nominated for the 2015 awards, the organising committee has been busily preparing for tonight's awards ceremony.

The committee, made up of several past winners, had a difficult job deciding who the finalists would be, from the plethora of exceptional nominees.

"We've got a lot of new businesses and some exciting young businesswomen coming to the fore this year," said Shannon McVey, head of this year's organising committee.

"The aim of GWIB is to showcase women's contributions to business, in particular, women in regional areas.

"Gympie, in particular, has some exceptional businesswomen, some young, and some excellent mentors who have had a massive impact both here in Gympie and state and nationwide."

With a total of 19 nominees in the 11 categories, there is no shortage of talented businesswomen in the region.

The categories include Community Service Excellence, New Business Award and Marketing Excellence.

The Gympie Women in Business awards will take place in the function room of The Decks on Mary Restaurant from 6pm. Tickets are $66 and the dress code is formal.

"The region's future is in safe hands," Ms McVey said.
