Photographer wins comp with pic of cheeky children
GYMPIE photographer A Lichy is a magician behind the lens, winning a category in the recent Centro Shopping Centre Smile Photography Competition.
The group-wide competition attracted entries Australia-wide in a number of categories, including artistic, general, holidays, pets, community, family and an overall national winner.
The photographer captured voters' hearts and eyes with a brilliant black and white photo to win the holiday's category.
Featuring the joy of youth and exuberance of being on holiday, two cheeky children poking their heads through the window of a campervan are the photo's subject.
The Gympie winner has since claimed $1000 for their effort and joins an exclusive list of photographers to have won awards in the national competition.
Centro Gympie marketing manager Anthony Mallett said it was great news to have a Gympie entrant feature among the award winners.
"This is the first person to have won from Gympie that I am aware of from the last three years, so it's a big achievement," he said.
Mr Mallet said the photography competition was another example of Centro Shopping Centres interacting with the community.
"We have had quite a few things this year grabbing people's attention," he said.
