Gympie region misses out in budget

THE Federal budget lived down to expectations in the Gympie and Wide Bay regions this week.

Federal MP Warren Truss predicted there would not be much in it for us and so did his Green Party rival Jim McDonald.

They were right.

“There's not much to comment on for our part of the world,” Gympie Regional Mayor Ron Dyne said yesterday.

“There's very little that I could find specifically for Wide Bay-Burnett.

“It's disappointing that additional funding for the Cooroy-to-Curra Gympie by-pass was not identified. We'll be dead before that project's finished.”

Mr Truss said he was disappointed in the lack of money in our area for hospitals, new highway work and the Mary Valley.
