Gympie touch gears up for a big weekend of finals

TOUCH FOOTBALL: The 18-week Gympie Touch Association season will come to a close this weekend with teams already looking forward to next season.

Tonight the men's and women's finals will be held from 6pm, culminating in the men's A-grade final at 8pm.

Administrator Kym Waugh said there would be plenty of entertainment tomorrow night for the mixed finals, with the U10 boys and girls rep teams competing at this year's Queensland Junior State Championships the curtain raisers for the finals.

Waugh said they wanted to show they are one club by including young players coming through the ranks in seniors finals.

DJ Rolly will provide entertainment from 5pm and a dash for cash competition will be held at 7.20pm with $200 prize money to the male and female winners.

Waugh said nominations for next season are already underway and those wishing to put in a team can do so tomorrow night.

"This season will be even longer - about 21 weeks," she said.

"The more teams the merrier."

The next season for mixed kicks off on Monday, July 13, and men's and women's on the Wednesday.
