Gympie golf

THE few showers on Wednesday were enough to put some off golf for the day.

However there are always those brave souls who venture out and manage the conditions quite well. Such a lady was Jean Peters, carding 74 nett in a stroke event and winning the day.

Min Meadows could only return 77 nett but it was good enough to get the runner up.

Run down balls started at 80 nett for Jenni Holland and Cindy Lawson, with Carmel Hendrie, Kate Sawry and Patricia Williams on 81 picking up the last of the rundown.

Carmel Hendrie won the third and Maureen Carroll picked up the 17th.

Saturday was a stableford event with again, only a small field.

Seems quite a few of our women golfers were trying their luck out at the turf. However Yoey Coogan had a nice day carding 35 points to take out the winner's prize and edge out Dell Groundwater on 34 points.

Dell beat Janelle Thorburn on a countback who had to settle for a ball in the run down.

Ever consistent Jean Peters came in with 33 points, while Virginia Reid had 32 points. Robyn Jackson and Stella Macklin both had 30, while the run down finished with Jenni Holland and Lorraine Elliott both on 29.

Joy Hatton had a good shot on three to grab that pin shot. Virginia Reid snuck in on that dreaded 17th and Kate Sawry once again won the pro pin.

The District Championships at Caboolture are sneaking up on us and it is time to finalise those entries. Our District events only survive on support so please get those entries in as soon as possible.

Fees are coming up for payment. If you haven't received an e-mail regarding the fees, Mark or Cody in the Pro shop will be able to help you there. This year is a pleasant surprise re the structure of fees so do your best to pay them as soon as practable.

Check the away book, as there are a couple of important days coming up. Open day at Nambour affects our nett pennants so look at that date to have a game away, as well as some of the other zone days. But until then see you on the tee.
