Big fines for entering Gympie schools over winter holidays

DURING the winter school holidays it is an offence to be on the premises of a school unless the person has a reasonable excuse or lawful authority to be there, police are warning.

Police say vandals have targeted schools with devastating consequences.

The maximum penalty for trespassing is a fine of $2200.

Queensland police have noticed a slight increase in damage and break-and-enter offences since Easter in some areas.
