Gympie ready to race
ALL systems are go for Saturday's Gympie Printing 100 Club Cup meeting at the Gympie Racecourse.
Excellent fields will result from good nominations for the five-race card highlighted by the $10,000 Gympie Printing 100 Club Cup over 1170m.
The track will be in tip-top order for the races following extensive maintenance on the course proper to improve track drainage and redistribute sand displaced by heavy rain recently.
With the prospect of good weather, a large crowd is expected to turn out for the races following the washout of the St Patrick's Day meeting last month.
Gympie's best gallopers have nominated for the 100 Club cup with Frenardi 62kg, Final Crunch 61.5kg, Agent Blue 60kg and Craiglea Tina 59kg included in the entries for the trophy race.
Strong entries were also received for the Class 3 with 17 horses initially nominated.
The crowd-pleasing Fashions of the Field will again take centre stage while the day will be rounded out with the After-Races Party.
A gourmet barbecue lunch for 100 Club members and guests will be held on the upper level of the Bill Bishop building to commence proceedings on Saturday.
