Muster to mark 30th year

THE Optus Gympie Music Muster will mark its major 30th year milestone achievement in 2011 and the beginning of a new era for the iconic Festival that has become a major inclusion on Australia’s annual calendar of events.

A new management team, consolidated stages, varied entertainment, returning artists as well as some making their debut at the event, 2011 will signify the beginning and future of the Optus Gympie Music Muster, designed to provide more for fans and partners than ever before.

The event’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vickii Cotter, leads a team of fresh staff working alongside the stalwart of volunteers from the APEX Club of Gympie bringing a range of ideas and concepts to not change but improve what is already in place.

Having been heavily involved in the hugely successful BLUESFEST event at Byron Bay as well as a legal and entertainment background, Ms Cotter’s confirmation as CEO has been a welcomed addition by the industry and long time associates of the event.

Former Muster publicist Gayle Madill said the Gympie Music Muster had played a huge part of the lives of her entire family.

“My husband John and I became involved as Apexians from the very first event at Widgee,” Mrs Madill said.

“We have been involved in various forms ever since. I have spent many years working at the Muster Office as an employee.

“John has worked as well, at every Muster and was for quite some time the local representative of the then Event Sponsor. We have watched the growth with pleasure over the past 29 Musters and we are excited as to how the milestone 30th year will be marked and how the event’s fans will have a chance to celebrate. I congratulate The Gympie Apex Club on its achievements. I have no doubt the event is in good hands.

“The Gympie Music Muster is a major event and significant fundraiser on Australia’s calendar of events.”

With three decades of growth and expansion, the 30th delivery will boast the inclusion of major national and international acts coupled with experiences only afforded to festivals that are self-contained in venue, accommodation and location. With over 10 performance stages spread across an enclosed section of the Amamoor Creek State Forest near Gympie (QLD) you are instantly aware that the event is able to provide a unique offering for the 60,000+ ticketholders it attracts annually.

In 2011, the event will promote performances scheduled for the Main stage (open from the Tuesday), Blues Bar (open from the Tuesday), Muster Club (open from the Tuesday), , The Crowbar, The Wine Bar (the place to go to relax, catch up with friends and enjoy a meal, glass of wine or a coffee), Mustadance, The Talent Search, The Kidz Klub area (a special area just for kids – no adults allowed!), The Bundy area and The XXXX Retreat.

With a focus for the 30th year on quality over quantity, the 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster is amping up the artist program and consolidating our venues to ensure an increased experience for all ticket holders.

“The 2011 Optus Gympie Music Muster is a major not for profit event that has raised in excess of $14million for charities and communities groups. Its 30th milestone will continue to demonstrate its diversity to ensure it remains a premier event for artists and fans in Australia. With a dedicated refocus back to its roots of country, the event’s three decades of delivery will be recognised as we look forward and create a vision for the future”, said Ms Vickii Cotter, CEO of the Optus Gympie Music Muster.
