Gympie MP claims police officer 'delivered death threats'

RETIRING LNP MP David Gibson has used parliamentary privilege to accuse a fellow party member and police officer of warning against questioning his loyalty as he had "delivered death threats on behalf of the party''.


Mr Gibson claimed "serving police officer Mr Llew O'Brien'' made these statements.


As Mr Gibson delivered his eighth and "what will be my last'' budget-in-reply speech in Parliament on Thursday night, he first thanked his family, supporters, the Gympie community and the government for their support "especially in those dark moments when depression and anxiety take hold".


But he soon moved to the matter which triggered his retirement from politics - the release of information related to Mr Gibson's past by former Gympie Liberal National Party branch member Scott Elms.


Mr Elms published information related to parts of Mr Gibson's past protected by the Rehabilitated Offenders Act.
